Core Principle
Silver PET transfer film is essentially a functional carrier film. The core principle is to "first create a silver metal layer on the PET film, then completely transfer it to the substrate, and the PET film can be peeled off and recycled."
Substrate and Release Pre-treatment: Using PET film as a support, a release layer (such as silicone oil) is first applied to ensure that the subsequent metal layer can be easily peeled off, while also ensuring dimensional stability and high-temperature resistance.
Vacuum Metal Plating: In a high-vacuum environment, aluminum (the mainstream material) or silver wire is heated and evaporated, and uniformly deposited on the PET release surface to form a nano-scale dense silver metal layer; advanced processes can use magnetron sputtering to improve the uniformity and reflectivity of the silver layer.
Lamination and Transfer: A transfer adhesive is applied to the surface of the metal layer, and then laminated and pressed onto the target substrate (cardboard, paper, leather, fabric, etc.); at this point, the adhesion between the adhesive layer and the substrate is greater than the adhesion between the metal layer and the PET release layer. After peeling off the PET film, the silver metal layer is completely transferred to the surface of the substrate, forming a metallic coating.
